Age Discrimination

Age Discrimination at Work is illegal in most instances. Age Discrimination is when someone is treated differently because of their age. The only exceptions are when it can be objectively justified for reasons such as Health and Safety or Statutory Law. For example, it is permissible to pay the lower band of minimum wage to an employee who is of the age for that particular band. The Equality Act 2010 protects all aspects of employment from ageism including:

  • Dismissal;
  • Employment terms and conditions;
  • Promotion and transfer opportunities;
  • Redundancy; and
  • Recruitment.

It is important to know your rights at any age. It is important to seek legal advice if you feel you may be a victim of Age Discrimination. At Bloomsbury Law, every Age Discrimination Solicitor is equipped with years of experience in the field. We will advise you on the steps to take in order to achieve the best possible outcome.
